Rocking chair Poul M. Volther for Frem Røjle

Poul M. Volther (1923—2001) was a Danish furniture designer who belonged to a generation of designers and architects who pioneered the Danish furniture industry, with a renewed focus on high quality materials and craft. As a true believer in pure functionalism, he avoided short-lived aesthetic trends, concentrating on the simple crafting with quality materials. A vision he also encouraged hundreds of design students to aim for, while he were lecturing at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

The rocking chair, designed for Frem Røjle in 1958 with an elegantly minimalist design, is a fine example of Volther's timeless design aesthetics and has become a rare collector's item for design furniture enthusiasts.

An exceptionally well-preserved original teak frame. The seat cushions have been restored and covered in a tone that harmonizes with the wooden frame. The seat cushion is reversible for extended use in case of wear.
