Niels Otto Møller is celebrated for a number of iconic chair designs that exemplify exceptional craftsmanship, commitment to quality and design. He founded J.L. Model 77 chairs are made from solid teak wood with newly woven paper cord seats. The chairs were in a bad and damaged condition, thus needing a thorough restoration. The deteriorated original finish has been removed, the joints have been disassembled, and re-glued with a traditional hide glue. For the protective finish, the wooden parts are covered with an emulsification based on natural resins that preserves the wood's natural tone and texture without altering them. We have chosen natural methods for restoring the chairs as that allows adhesive joints to be dismantled and re-bonded in the future without damaging the wood, thereby ensuring higher quality and a longer lifespan.
