Niels Otto Møller is celebrated for a range of iconic chair designs that exemplify exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to quality. After founding J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in 1944, he created a distinguished collection of furniture that combined carefully selected materials, advanced woodworking techniques, and a strong focus on ergonomics and elegance. Model 77 chairs are designed in 1959.
The chairs are crafted from solid teak and traditionally paired with paper cord seats, reflects this attention to detail. The chairs in this set were in poor condition and required comprehensive restoration. The damaged original finish was removed, joints were carefully disassembled, and the frames were re-glued using traditional hide glue. For the protective finish, the wood was treated with an emulsification based on natural resins, preserving the teak’s tone and texture without altering it. These natural restoration methods allow adhesive joints to be dismantled and re-bonded in the future without harming the wood, ensuring both higher quality and a longer lifespan.
